    Electronics and Information Industries
    Of the 200 or so electronics industry, two are ranked among the "Top 100 National Electronics Companies"; 5 are among the "Top 100 Foreign-invested Electronics Enterprises in China"; and 4 are among the "Top 100 Enterprises of Electronic Components in China." These contribute nearly 40% to Xiamen"s total industrial output value. 
    Xiamen is the home of famous domestic and international brands such as Xoceco, Amoisonic, Dell, Matsushita, TDK and FDK. The production and sales of digital TV, faxing machines, auto audio, displayers, telephones, compact discs, transformers, capacitors, IC fix frames, relays and photo-electric equipments list Xiamen among the top in China.
    Encouraged Areas of Investment
    The government encourages the support for the evolution of three product chains: computer and web products chain; telecommunications product chain; digital products and "integrated" intelligent home center products chain. It also actively promotes the development of elementary supporting industries.
    Machinery and Metallurgy Industries
    Xiamen has about 180 machinery and metallurgy companies and it is strongly established in various sectors including engineering machinery, power distribution equipment, large and medium-sized buses, tungsten products and aviation maintenance.
    Xiamen boasts famous domestic and international brand products such as the vacuum switchgear and medium-voltage switchgear of ABB, the hydrostatic transmission forklift of Linde, ammonium paratungstate (APT), blue tungsten oxide (BTO), tungsten powder, carbonized tungsten powder and tungsten wire of "Golden Egret" brand, the loader of "Xia Gong"(Xiamen Engineering Machinery Co.), King Long large and medium-sized buses and Dashun double-zero aluminum foil.
    Encouraged Areas of Investment
    Investment in the following areas is encouraged: engineering machinery, power distribution equipment, aviation maintenance, hard alloy, automobile, ship maintenance and building, and new tech mechanical products.
    Chemical Industry
    A world-class manufacturing base of color film/paper has been established in Xiamen. Its rubber tire industry manufactures a complete set of products and holds a big share of the domestic and Southeast Asian market. Here is also the world"s biggest PTA production line of single series, and the manufacturing and R&&D base of polyester. 
    Encouraged Areas of Investment
    Investment in the following chemical areas is encouraged: aromatic series products series: PX—PTA-PET fiber grade chip—Polyester filaments; P.S.F. (polyester short fiber)—weaving and dying—textile fabrics—garments; PET resin-beverage bottles, packing film, engineering plastics and engineering filament, etc.
    Service Industry
    Xiamen"s aim is to be the most significant service center on the southeastern coast of China. Qualified companies are encouraged to invest in the areas of logistics, financial services, tourism, commerce and trade, intermediary services, etc.
